Specializing in Catalysis, Inorganic/Organometallic
Synthesis and Organometallic Mechanisms

Our research encompasses many areas, from the development of useful synthetic organic methodologies for organic chemistry to the mechanistic principles that underlie catalytic oxidations. become familiar with a variety of techniques, including manipulations of air sensitive compounds using vacuum lines and an inert-atmosphere glove-box, and the characterization of complexes using a variety of spectroscopic methods such as: one and two dimensional NMR spectroscopy, UV-Vis spectroscopy, IR spectroscopy, and mass spectrometry. Fundamental reactivity is examined using the techniques of physical inorganic and organic chemistry, i.e. reactivity is examined through the use of kinetics, including stopped-flow kinetics, isotope effects, labeling studies and other mechanistic tools. Insights into the structure and bonding of highly reactive species are probed using density functional theory calculations.
